Diesel D6

Not a specification anyone sells under that name. The real product behind the number is No. 6 fuel oil under ASTM D396, and "D6" appears in offer emails as a virgin fuel oil at volumes and prices no refinery quotes.

What to ask for instead

If you have been offered this, here is what will actually get you a quotation.

  1. 01 If you want residual fuel, ask for a grade to ISO 8217 with the table and year named
  2. 02 If you want marine fuel, ask for VLSFO or HSFO with the sulphur limit stated
  3. 03 Ask for the storage terminal, the tank number and a dip test before discussing price

Tell us what you actually need

Describe the duty the fuel has to do and the destination, and we will tell you which grade that is and quote it.
